The expansion of Dubai’s Ibn Battuta Mall will create an 18 million sf, mixed-use retail, entertainment, hospitality, office and residential development. The existing mall will be freshened and upgraded with new skylights and clerestory, bringing the outdoors inside. Six towers with 3.8 million square feet of office space will connect to the mall. The expansion, which will double the mall’s size, and will also connect all of the elements to Dubai’s new metro. The architectural theme of recreating the adventures of 14th century explorer Ibn Battuta will continue with new “countries” added to the environments shoppers currently visit.
