Encompassing almost 1.7 million sf of commercial space, Dubai’s Dragon Mart is known as the largest trading center for Chinese merchandise outside of mainland China. To accommodate visitor growth, the kilometer long, dragon shaped facility is undergoing a major renovation consisting of architectural enhancements and improvements to environmental graphics and lighting. Designed to create a more retail-oriented shopping environment, the make-over includes the redesign of building entrances to enhance the property’s identity, the use of Chinese lanterns as a concept spring point for landmarks and way-finding, and the expansion of existing parking to accommodate increased vehicular traffic. New food courts will also be added and existing food courts renovated. In addition, the project will add a 400 key hotel, 1,200 residential units and 600,000 sf of office space.
